LHRR Equipment (formerly "The Boxcar Project")

A couple things got done in the warmth of the sun yesturday.
I painted the body of my Henrietta coach. Unfortunately, I didn't do a great job filling in holes, so it looks like I'll have to take another step backwards. But, I am learning!

This photo also showcases the recently repainted roof and completed chassis. I removed everything from the chassis, including the original running boards (cut them off) and painted the buffer beams red.

I also began final painting of my Piko 25 tonner. Next week, Ill do the top half.

Henrietta is nearly done!

I finished the chassis the other day. Technically the steps are part of the chassis, so I guess that's not true. I had to wait to attach those to make sure they were centered between the end of the body and the buffer beam. Speaking of, this buffer beam now looks like Henrietta's, rather than Bachmann's version of Annie/Clarabel.

Aaaaand, today I got all the bits for the railings 3D printed and test-fit in place. I took this photo while the last piece was printing still...
As one can see, I did go back and fill in more dents in the body. I was hoping to paint this today, but it's too darn windy outside. She's looking good!

Project(s) complete!

I am so happy to finally say that I have completed my Henrietta.I actually finished her a few days ago but I've been too tired to take a decent photo. Even this I'm not super happy with...

The railings on the ends are 3D printed, everything else is done by hand. One of the four gates actually swings!
I had to replace the original glazings with clear styrene that I added scotch tape to for the frosted look.

In addition, though I forgot to install the couplers, my Tandem box car is also finished! If I haven't said it yet, this is where I work. It's a bagel cafe in Massachusetts. I showed a photo of the car to the operations guy the other day and he thought I hand-painted it all!

All-in-all, I'm not super happy with water-slide decals. Is there something I should be doing after applying them? They're super obvious still.
