A Finescale Penrhyn Hunslet

Hi folks
Here is a short video of a Finescale 'Port' class Hunslet haling a few slate wagons. It is a chuff-free film as this little loco has resisted my every attempt to fit a chuffer!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a9Bp...hello if you get the chance. Cheers Chris

That's just lovely, Chris

Like that....

Loverly rake of slate wagons & loverly loco too she does sizzle a bit though ,

Re:A Finescale Penrhyn Hunslet

Another nice video, Chris. While I noticed the sound of bacon frying (I love bacon :) ), what caught my eye was the beautiful slate wagons. Just as I was wondering where I could get them, you posted the builder's information and 'scratch built.' Perhaps, I could use some of the Accucraft flat data only wagons they made for the L & B to build some. Could you post some still pics of the slate wagons various features? And perhaps a rough dimension or two. Is there a better way to make some similar wagons from scratch? Or, perhaps, there was an article in GR that I should hunt for (I seem to remember one).

Re:A Finescale Penrhyn Hunslet

Thanks guys - it really is a great little loco, but without the chuff......well.......there's just something missing.... While I was editing the film my wife asked me why it sounded like frying bacon - so you are spot on George:D
I will put some photos of the slate wagon over on the Rolling Stock section as they may be of interest to others and will get lost here. I did an article on 7/8ths scale stock Garden Rail 192 but no slate wagons I'm afraid. As you will see George, the Accucraft wagons would be massive in comparison.
Cheers
Chris

Re:A Finescale Penrhyn Hunslet

Yes indeed, but they are 32mm only and the real rub is that Peter Binnie doesn't currently sell direct to the US. Worth dropping him an email though if 32mm is right for you George.
Cheers
Chris

Re:A Finescale Penrhyn Hunslet

Ahh yes, I'd forgotten that. To scale they'd look decidedly silly on 45mm- scratchbuilding on W&L flat chassis is certainly one option.

Doug on this forum built some exceptionally nice ones from wood and brass- I can't remember what gauge now but you'd be able to scale it up easily enough if it was 32mm. I'll have to have a look for the article, I suspect it was on G Scale Mad originally but it may have made it's way over!

That is a really nice film Chris. Never mind the missing chuffer, -it does very well without. :)

Thanks, Chris. I'll head over to the Rolling Stock section and take a look. I don't normally check that section very often. And, I'll dig out #192 this weekend and take a look. Thanks.

I took at look at Peter's products and they are very nice. However, the wagons would have a rather bumpy ride with two wheels on a rail and the other two in the ballast. :o: Yes, 45 mm wagons would fit my rails much better.
