Too much of a good thing is nearly enough.

I have had this niggle for a couple of summers to divert my outer circuit to add a bit of character, so a week ago I finally accepted the challenge.
The line was to diverge to the left and go around the back of the shrubs....the only drawback was a jungle blocked the proposed route!!

Undaunted, I got to work and soon (well after a battle to be fair) the way was cleared and trackwork laid out to test the route.

Once the line of route was confirmed the trackwork was joined up and levelled onto a base of shingle, with weed preventative matting under it, and once I was happy with that granite chippings were used as ballast to secure the track.

Today everything was tidied up, power connected and the first train tested out the circuit....and worked first time!!

I have uploaded a short 30 second film clip onto YouTube. Still a bit of tamping to do as always, but hopefully this will now be as reliable as the original circuit which had worked faultlessly for over 15 years.
