A nice town hall for my tramway

tramcar trev

all manner of mechanical apparatus...
This is at Boulder Western Australia. I like the style of the building and it should be relatively easy to model yet look quite decent as a town hall on a corner of my City Centre. Its on Burt St where trams used to rumble and Im'g going to get to ride on a restored Kalgoorlie tram later in my trip. I have a cylinder of Nellie Melba singing "No Place Like Home" actually recorded there in 1914 and I'm going to send them an MP3 digitally remastered copy when I get home and they by way of response will send me some dimensioned sketches. I took heaps of detail pics anyway.
Check out the curtain inside, it gobswaggled me and though a bit of conservation has been done its the original....

Welcome to WA, Trev. Or at least the first reasonable approximation of civilisation WA has on the long trek from the East!

Are you going to head over to the Loopline museum? The trains haven't run in a while since the super pit swallowed the far end of the line and what little was left of the town of Kamballie, but the little museum at Boulder station was nice the last time I was there (probably ten years ago though). There's a mining museum in Kalgoorlie, which is of some interest. Also, the super pit; if you really really like looking at large holes in the ground. Then there are the pubs, and the infamous Hay Street. And that's pretty much all that those two towns have to offer.

You'll need to do a lot of 'squashing' to get Boulder Town Hall down to a manageable size Trev.
Here's a couple of smaller buildings I liked on our trip west. They are all north of Kal,
first one is Menzies town hall

Then Mt Magnet

then Cue Post Office.

'someday' I'll get round to making one or more of them - should be perfect for Hebel carving.

The Loopline museum is closed until further notice, The railway Museum at Merredin is quite well organised and is good for a few hours of poking around.
Ahhhhhh yes Hay st seems very subdued to the way it was a few years back. Only one establishment of Gentlemen's entertainment now all such entertainment being provided by Asian girls. BUT we had lunch at a pub that a local enthused about. Children read no further...
Served by what I at thought was a nude woman, no not nude on errrrr closer inspection she was not nude but was wearing 2 round band aide's and some sort of adhesive latex patch in skin tones that was moulded to her contours perfectly...
Though the look on SWMBO's face took the cake when she approached us with our sausages and mash, damned dangerous I could have choked....

Yes that did dawn on me. I may try to photoshop it to a smaller size even if I just get the corner with clock tower in.
I do like the look of Menzies TH though.
Oh Guru of Hebel construction maybe you should give masterclasses....
I want a cinema too as we always went to the flicks by tram and found this gem at Merredin, plenty of scope for flashing 2mm leds as well. It was moved from Coollgardie after the crowd left brick by brick. Nice stained glass detail to the windows as well

I like stained doing glass windows. And the surrounds would be a good Hebel carving exercise.

Had a similar experience Trev. Didn't know what 'skimpy hour' when I saw it on the pub window. First beer was served by a dressed barmaid. Second one (into the skimpy hour) was as described by you. Beer cost an extra $2 too.

I was too busy trying to poke my eyes back into their sockets to notice if the beer was more expensive..... I had a question I was not game to ask "what if you want a pee?" ouch????

The further I travel in WA and for that matter SA the more buildings I note would be worth Hebelisation.... I also think with the vast amount of prototypes available it does tend to add to the setup if the buildings have a prototype....
