Ok appologies for raising this old chestnut again but....Its more of a specific loco question....

Has anyone added any additional weight to a Crok....Its just that i've had mine apart and even though it has the twin weights within the body,
there is space in the nose ends for a bit more.
As its still sort of in bits, and i have some of those self adhesive tyre balance weights, just wondering if i should, based on the experience of others out there.
 
Never tried it myself, although my my early version of the Croc has been taken to bits twice and that was a fairly scary experience in itself.

The key issue to answer is, does it slip when you try to haul your ideal load?

Also, if it slips, does it seem to have plenty of power up it's sleeve that it can't 'lay down' on the rails?

If the answer is no to either of the above, then there is nothing to be gained by weighting it more.

If the answer is yes to both, then give it a shot. You can always take it out if the experiment fails.

I have experience of the Croc, the 2095 and the centre cab 21510 and I have never yet found any of them lacking in grip, even on severe gradients at a chums layout.

That said, regularly running long 'American style' trains is not my thing, so others may have better and more appropriate experiences than me.
