Does anyone have any knowledge of these locos? Are they good runners? How do they couple up to stock? Are there any known problems? Other than they are fine looking locos & a fairly expensive piece of kit i have little knowledge of them. I do however have an Isle of Man Caledonia by Accucraft that i am very pleased with.

I have had one for a few years and am very pleased with it no trouble at all,

Runs well on my home built track and has Phoenix sound fitted

Two different elements of Accucraft here. The UK outline stuff is Accucraft Uk, while the US outline stuff comes from....., well, the US.

The US models are Stainless steel & brass, and are well made scale models. I have a 3-cylinder Shay which is a fine performer. It needs a minimum of 8ft radius curves, and in a couple of places, I've needed to superelevate the track to stop it riding over the edge. Coupling is link & pin, and I made up a match truck, a short bogie tanker acting as a supposed bowser, to connect go between the loco, and the logging trucks which have bachmann buckeyes.

I have heard good reports of the 2-cylinder Shays

Nnnnn.....nnnnn. Flat out - they only have two speeds, slow & stop :bigsmile:

Don't confuse the live steam shays with the electric powered ones

Appreciate your comment Doug. I am interested in the electric version but thought there should be several parts that are common to both versions.

hey doug
would you compare and contrast the accu to the aster-

theres an aster shay for sale near me just like that one

Can't compare directly - don't own either of them. But going by reputation, think ford vs rolls royce!

More like Geely and Rolls Royce perhaps?
