Accucraft Baugley Drewery Diesel.

Trainman

All narrow gauge and industrial railways,
Hey guys,

Just recently I have purchased an Accucraft Drewery diesel loco and as part of the service - had it radio controlled. When we got it home I noticed it had a rather odd behavior when travelling downhill. It moved forward and stopped, moved forward and stopped in jerky actions. Going uphill is perfectly fine but only downhill does the problem reoccur. I thought it was because I have some pretty fierce grades but when I tested it on various grades the problem was the same to varying degrees. I tried turning it around and to no avail. It runs fine on the flat elevation but my layout is anything but. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has noticed the same problem and if there are any suggestions to fix this annoying problem. Having said that I am also speaking to the seller and we are working through a possible fix. I have tried heavy loads, light loads and no loads but the result is always the same. We have nicknamed it "Bollarditis" after the road where the problem was first noticed happening. Any ideas??

Henrik, I have also got one, and it does the same thing, but it is getting better with use. It is worse with a heavy load behind, it seems that there may be something binding, possibly excess trust in the gearbox, but difficult to tell really. I would persevere for a bit, with lighter loads, and see if it gets better like mine has. Mine still does it, some, but I haven't run all that much yet, I'm expecting it to improve further.

To be honest - I dont really know. It has a larger square battery and a five chanel 2.4 gig radio transmitter. I have total trust in the system as it is from a very reputable supplier. I had it factory installed in the UK then shipped to NZ. That is why we are trying to solve it before going to shipping back. The costs are horrendous and then there is customs with batteries in posal boxes!! I also have another chassis here comp0lete with another system of the same make but I haven't installed it yet.

Bob,

Thanks for that. I might just charge up the batteries and let her rip. Up till now most of my trains have been light ones or no stock behind her. One possibility we are following is in the gearbox area. I am loathe to pull too much apart yet until I can pin things down a bit more. BUT I will give her a good run. I have a couple of scratch built wagons that have a bit of drag which may help to bed her in a bit more. Thanks for your help guys. Makes me feel a bit better about this.
