A few pictures of the engineering sample of the new L&B Lew that is under development, there are still a few small things to change to get the loco spot on before we get the production sample.

Note the working Joy valve gear and cylinder drain cocks......

Happy steamings,

John

And that's what we will get in electric eventually, can't wait :)
Bet it'll cost more than the 2nd hand Bachmann one I saw at Felixstowe yesterday?

£80....

I didn't know Bachmann made an L&B Lew.
Not strictly a 'Lew', but a Southern Railway version of their 2-4-2 Bladwin tank loco.

Adrian (Delivery of Oblivion) has one for sale on GSC at the moment....

Very nice

Just a couple of wheels (and heck of a lot of detailing) missing there Gizzy.
Have to say, it looks streets ahead of the Bachmann - OK, you are paying for it, but your also getting it.

Without a doubt the Aristcraft loco knocks the spots off the Bachmann version....

As a model, yes undoubtedly, but I'll wait and see how the electric version performs in comparison with the Bachmann version (also taking into account the price difference) before forming a final opinion.

Yep Lyn is a completely different loco apart from livery. Lew was also unique until Lyd was built recently as it has a different cab to the other three L&B locos. As Mel says hopefully Accucraft will address the pickups on the centre axle on the electric version. This version could be done as Lew or the new Lyd.

It is a very handsome beast indeed, I wonder if they will be doing a black version too?
Bachmann, do a model of a Manning Wardle loco ? well it would be nice. I suspect that their Lyn was a happy marketing coincidence rather than a wish to model a L & B loco.

Bachmann make a model of 'Lyn', a completely different loco from the one above :D

Ooh very nice. Pity I haven't enough dosh...but hey I might win the new Health Lottery. My lucky daughter has won £500 on it already but I'd need a bit more than that.

Indeed Paul, there are very many opportunities for plenty of pick-ups there. Let's hope that Accucraft take advantage of that fact.

Accucraft have advised me that any future 6 coupled electric locos will have pick ups on all driving wheelsets.

Regarding the electric version of Lew please remember it is not a definite project, expressions of interest are being taken. It is simply a matter of supply and demand, if enough interest is registered then they will probably build it, if not then they won't. So really guys and galls the future is in your hands.

Happy trundlings,

John
