Accucraft Mortimer

We just received our Mortimer today and quite pleased.  A bit disappointed that it isn`t fitted with a water glass as being a marine engineer I always liked to know where my boiler water was. The lining work on it is awesome and hope to have it under steam (or with a hot stack as we say at sea) next week as we are waiting on steam oil.

That looks good - shame about having to wait for the steam oil, though ???

Nice loco
Can you retro fit a sight glass? I don't know.
1 of my steamers has one and it makes a big difference

Not much room in the cab for a water glass. I have ordered the Goodall valve and top up bottle.  It will be slow running as some of you have seen my layout pic. I did this layout as a dedication to my Grandfather who was an engine builder for the PRR as well as my Dad who was also a marine engineer but started his apprenticeship with PRR in the shops.

Steam oil arrived today and I have built a little block to run her in on before putting her on the tracks. With the height of the tracks I think it will be better to get the feel of the controls and all and give her a chance to run without a load for a bit.

Hi Ron
Definitely worth learning your steamie on blocks for a few runs. Looks like you done a good job on your railway and bridges too :)

Looking forward to pics! :D
