Accucraft Wrekin goes R/C

Hi all
The Accucraft Wrekin was the first proper 16mm steam loco I bought, back in 2007
when I was convinced that manual operation was the way to go. Well times have
changed and I fitted a simple, single channel 2.4ghz R/C using a cheap set from
Giantcod (no connection). The batteries fit underneath and the receiver and
micro servo are in the tank operating the reversing lever. You can see it
running here this afternoon - not the smoothest driving, but then I was driver
and cameraman!

You can see it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=10wIDBwBKjM

And on my website news page as usual.
Cheers

Enjoyed the vid.

I liked the excellent camera work and driving!

A true master of multi-tasking....

Aah - multi-tasking - that's not what my wife says, Gizzy!!

I think that the Giantcod Tx/Rx was under £30 plus about a fiver for a battery box and switch. I use them on all my R/C locos and have not had a problem - in fact I think they are absolutely brilliant! Also the new receivers with the end plugs are easier to fit.

I have the regulator open about 1/6th of a turn - that gives the upper limit and is nowhere near full throttle. It all depends how steep your gradients are.

Cheers
Chris
