Adhesive for Pola Building?

So Help needed, what are people using to stick Pola Buildings together? i have used the polystyrene cement but it seems to degrade over time and the buildings fall apart. I have some of the walling i have had for a few years and it keeps coming apart at the joints to the pillars so the question is is there any adhesive that will weld them together ?

You could try plastic pipe weld I guess?

But test with some scrap or sprue first....

I use UHU all purpose Power that is excellent for outside. Furthermore I drill very fine holes in the main joints with pins to add some mechanical strength then finally Silicone adhesive to the inside of the joints. Works for me over a lot of years.

My piko kits came with UHU plast in the box. It was a bit meh to be honest.

IIRC I supplemented it with something angrier - probably Humbrol poly cement.

I did have a building that came apart as you describe, so I tend to trim the plastic sprue frames and glue them in the corners to reinforce the joins. no problems with buildings coming apart after I started doing that.

I use "Plastic Weld", I find any adhesive that actually melts and allows the components to bond into each other lasts well, but it often depends on the type of plastic to be joined ABS being one of the hardest to bond. So most that are recommended for ABS should work well.

The UHU Power is an entirely different beast and I have used it outside for a few plastic type glue jobs and it does not let me down.

Thanks all for the advice i will see if my son has some plastic pipe weld and try. i also have some clear Gorila \glue the Pola waling is my particular problem as there isnt much glue line as it is only about 50mm tall and quite a few stuck together.
I find i know less the older i get these days

I used this stuff, I was so impressed that I still buy and use it today as it is a gel and bonds incredibly well. Pola 330593.

Not mentioned so far - You must remember to remove any paint colour "wash" that is commonly applied during manufacture of these products surfaces, all over. These are used to create the "weathered" or "patinated" appearance of components. This should be done where any surfaces are to be bonded together with adhesive. This is a typical feature of most Pola/Piko structure products. Any surface colour "wash" can and will act as both a barrier to an adhesives' solvent action and, even if it is partially dissolved by adhesives, stops surfaces bonding properly to each other.

Otherwise solvent based adhesives as others have suggested. However, if you can source them Technicol 8008 or Ruderer L530 are excellent in this application too. Do add a bead, as suggested by others, of silicon sealant or 2 pack filler to strengthen (minimises the effects expansion/contraction and water ingress on joints exposed to constant heating a cooling). Max

P.S. If reconstructing old failed plastic structures you must also remove any surface traces of old adhesives, especially if you did not remove colour "wash" first time around. In areas to be bonded sand/scrape back to a clean moulded plastic surface. Again residues of old adhesive can affect bonding process with a new adhesive. Personal note - CA (except bonding QC resins), Epoxy and non exterior use contact type adhesives have no place in the garden. At least for long term outdoor use.
