Hi all,
When the White Pass & Yukon Railroad placed its second order in 71 for an additional 3 DL535Es to replace the 2 destroyed in the Skagway roundhouse fire, The Rio Grande Narrow Gauge piggy-backed the order with 3 of their own. The Rio Grande’s order was for 2 standard locomotives and a B unit/ booster unit. This unit has been out of use for many years now, being used as spares to keep the other 2 running. With the success of the luxury tourist train this unit has been refurbished and repainted to add much needed extra power.
