Alco,with a dummy friend?

After picking up a WP&Y LGB  Alco some months ago,it just didnt look right in the yellow and green, needed a new paint scheme, but what colour?,,,so after track test, sat in the box. :`(the other thing that didnt look right was that it was running on its own,it needed a friend ;)so how to get around it,and as the Board of Directors (THE WIFE)had some reservations regarding buying another loco, only option was to maybe build a dummy,so thought i would at least have a go,it would have to run equally well forward and reverse,at speed if needed, run over R1 turnouts, and negotiate R1 "S" bends on the railroad! So decided to use a flatcar chasis as a base, after all was only an experiment, the alco came out of the box to use as inspiration and work started,,,,I wanted something like the Alco, but not a copy, just an american outline, the pics show the almost finished result, just a few more bits to do,windshield wipers etc,now i know it runs ok,will think about some lights maybe,we"ll see,the body is styrene sheet and removable by swinging out the handrails,in fact its all styrene sheet and shapes, sound comes from a Model Blaster unit, together with SD45 soundcard, goes with the factory sound in the Alco,as for the colour,,,I  call it Sand & Sedona, then lettered and light weathering.track test, great,Just go to get some late model cars,to have 1970s days now!!!

Neat, it reminds me of the small GE narrow gauge diesel engines shipped to South Africa

Always remember the kitbashers mantra, there's a prototype for everything ;)

Super, and one of my fave locos. It wasn't a green and yellow one with RC was it!?!

I sold one to a dealer.

It looks the business, and much better with its new partner.

And you certainly don't need the puling power of two Alcos.

Yes Vic,there is a prototype after thinking about it,i built it :D :D,as for the Alco,it was green and yellow, basic model, factory sound etc,no R/C,i I did get from a dealer,ex shop demonstrator,so could almost say was new,,.BTW,the dummy weighs about the same as a box car,so the big beast doesnt know its there! ;D ;D
