An 1840s Scratch Build Locomotive

I'm scratch building an 1830s-40s locomotive, approximately 1:28 scale using leftover bits and pieces from other projects and my ever-growing junk box. This is not a copy of a historical locomotive, but does incorporate elements typical of many of the locomotives of that time frame. While I had a plan all laid out, I have been making changes as I go along. Sometimes these are dictated by the materials available, or just me thinking that a different look is preferable. I am posting some of the build here and will post pics of the final product.

Here are photos of the finished product. Overall, I am quite pleased with how it worked out. I was committed to using leftovers and whatever I could find around the house. My only expense was a large dowel for the boiler. I was going to use a piece of broom handle, but it was not thick enough for my purpose.
