Another Tram Project

3 minutes of fame

I thought as cutting has begun, I would start a thread for this.

I've designed a 4 wheel Brill tram with something akin to a Peckham body. There were so many variations on this that you can pretty much pick any half decent sized town in the UK and you'll find a close prototype!

This one is closer to 1/30 so it should look ok on Gauge 1 and not too small running with my Occre trams either.

1st sheet is cut and the 2nd of 3 will be done tonight. Building starts tomorrow if the conference calls keep rolling in...

And the 2nd sheet is almost done. It takes about 40 minutes to cut each sheet, depending upon the number of parts to cut out or engrave. Sheet 3 has the seating parts, which take 45 minutes on their own, plus the other bits. Hopefully this will be cut by lunchtime and then releasing the parts will begin. Easily the most tedious part, but still better than cutting out by hand!

Well, a few errors to correct, but nothing too major. I think I will shorten and widen the upper deck - and stick it together the right way up(!), but otherwise the shape and proportions look OK. I might knock 6-8mm off the height of the lower saloon, as it is a little tall for 1/32, but the width and length are good, at about 7' wide by 28' long. The engraving in the door was too deep and has punched all the way through, so that will need replacing at some point. Apparently I don't know the strength of my new laser module...

I'll go through the rest of the errors, like the length of the seating being wrong, along with thickening up the seat components and the under frame a little. I think they would be OK for a static model, but not for the rigours of an outdoor layout!

Another interesting project. When you're satisfied with it will you be putting them on the market, or is just for yourself?

Quite possibly. It will take me a month or so to do the corrections.

As Jon is doing with the W+E coach, if someone wants to volunteer to do a test build and brief review in return for a free kit, I'm open to offers.
