Aristo-Craft Pacific Tender Wiring?

Hello. I am a retired school teacher and church music director. I have been running G scale trains since about 1990. I have a problem with BOTH of my Aristo-Craft Pacific Tenders. They make sound when low power is supplied BUT as the locomotive starts to run my power pack lights up with a red light (usually and indication of a bad wire or grounding) and the locomotive stops. Then it starts again, and stops. I do not have the rechargeable batteries installed yet but they are coming. I know that the early tenders had wiring problems. Has anybody else seen this and how may I solve it? Thanks AJ

Seems strange.... almost impossible both tenders went wrong at the same time. I think you have a powre supply problem.

Have you tried it with the loco off the track? You might have a mild short somewhere on the layout.

Also, please give a picture of the transformer.

It would also help to know what version of Aristo you have, so do you have plastic siderods on the locos?

Thanks Greg. You were correct. I was running an Aristo Craft Art 5401 Train Power Controller with a matching Art 5450 power supply. I swapped power supplies and the same situation occurred so I swapped The Art 5401 Train Power Controller. After that everything was great! Thanks for your expertise! AJ
