Aristocraft mallet binding or sticking problem

My mallet has developed a wee problem. Although all the motion and quartering seems spot on, it has a binding or 'sticking' point. It can be seen particularly when running slowly where it visibly jerks and will even stop.
I have had it running upside down and it is the front block that has the problem although the rear block is actually making much more gear noise!. The front block can actaually stall and need pushing to get going again. As it stalls or sticks, it draws more power and even the rear block slows! All motion and axles have been lubricated.
Has anyone had or heard of motion, running gear problems with this mallet?

I hade the same problem on a brand new Mallet, so much for quality control! It turned out to be the wheels/coupling rods being out of quarter, cured by slight adjustment. Runs fine now with 46 freight cars behind it.

cheers
