I have an Aristocraft train set with a basic orange remote that will not run. When directional buttons are pressed just hear a click. Any assistance would be welcomed. Thanks.

Dunno if there are any clues here TE Programming It is a very venerable unit and may have finally gone to meet its maker.

I have very much been a lover of the TE these past 18 years of ownership. I know no better :D If you are happy with a no frills DC operation they were the business. I have 2 of the CRE55470 TX/RX combos, one very used with a couple failed channel indicating LED's and another not so used and in perfect operable condition, bought a couple of years ago 2nd hand "just in case". They are both about to become redundant, along with a 20 amp Crest CRE55465 power unit as I am switching over wholesale to battery/RC operation. If you want to continue with a variant of the TE system they will shortly become available. However I think shipping costs and import taxes might make them not viable to move to the US. Max

Max, the OP is in the USA, the newer TE system has been available here for many years.

If you are alluding to another system for remote control, there are tons of options here in the US, I would recommend the G Scale Graphics products for low cost, simple control, likewise located in the USA.

I am well aware of all the points you mention. I even acknowledged the OP's location in my post. Just a cheeky little plug for some now redundant kit Plus a link to a site that may or may not offer some clues. Every little bit helps, to quote a well known UK groceries company' advertising strapline. Max

What are the letter stickers on the back? The C transmitter must have a C receiver as these letters define the CB frequcncy settings of the units.
But if someone changed the crystal inside then all bets are off.
Here are the TE frequencies Aristo used and the orance unit was am modulated, black was FM. CB's interferred with the orange units!!

TX BOX BLACK GRAY
ch 1 27.045 75.41
ch 2 27.065 75.45
ch 3 27.085 75.49
ch 4 27.105 75.53
ch 5 27.125 75.57
ch 6 27.145 75.61
ch 7 27.165 75.65
ch 8 27.195 75.69
ch 9 27.225 75.73
ch10 27.255 75.77
The TRACK # does not change the frequency.

Sorry, no great answer, watch the Facebook swap and shop groups, and ebay, but also I think they came in multiple frequencies, so that might be an issue.

I think they were crystal controlled, so perhaps you could swap crystals if you found a replacement but on the wrong frequency.

Also perhaps the aristo-craft forum might yield results, certainly you would do better on a USA forum like MLS or LSC.
