The new Aster rebuilt Merchant Navy class is a nice experience when you take it out of it`s box and place it on the track.
Couple it up to a rake of J&M Pullman cars and pull away and you realize that this is the hobby meant for you!

That is rather good, isn't it? :D

Takes me back to Clapham Junction in 1957 when I first beheld a loitering rebuilt Merchant Navy - I was mightily impressed!

In the day, I was always an Eastern fan myself. A1/2/3/4................even B17's and then Brits. Having said that, my favourite picture which has hung on my walls wherever for the last 20 years is the Alan Fernlea (ey) "Sunset at Nine Elms" which depicts the rebuilt spamcan Holland America Line. Surely the most evocative railway painting ever.
