I am keen on the open Bachman tram and now have three, mainly repaired, but all have the same running number. Has any member found a solvent or any other method of removing these numbers without damaging the base colour? These trams look great running in the dark reminiscent of the Isle of Man summer cars.
I think the Bachmann trams are great, and the usual rough sounding motor suits them!
I tried various methods to remove the fleet numbers, but in the end found the best solution was to repaint the entire tram.
You could try a fibreglass eraser and rub very carefully then to cover the blemish give the entire panel a coat of clear matte varnish.... Worked for me....
In desperation I tried a number of solvents, no movement until acetone which disturbed the yellow but not the red, so onto methyl-ethyl-ketone. That ruined it completely!
Humbrol no 154 insignia yellow is a fair match so I am going to paint over the numbers.
Thank you for your contributions, I think the complete repaint above looks lovely but beyond me. I am now happy with the appearance.
Derek, I have some running numbers, water-slide, just apply, then a coat of clear varnish. Pop over have a beer bring the trams and we will do them. Alyn
