I have to install a steam soundcard into a Bachmann 2-6-6-2 Mallet for a customer but am having problems figuring out how to remove the boiler to get at the electronics and am hoping there is someone out there who can help.

I have removed the six screws which hold down the side tanks and boiler fron and also the screws each side of the headlight. As a result the boiler and smokebox can be lifted clear of the frame. However, something is holding it back at the firebox end.

I have checked Bachmann's site and have the exploded diagrams but can't find anything that tells the customer how to gain internal access.

Any help will be very welcome.

Tony, you are a gent as always

Tony,
Thanks for that. I wondered if it was necessary to remove the cab as well. However, the problem solved itself in the meantime. The customer is using track power so is not converting to radio control. As a result, I didn't need to take anything apart. I was able to install the soundcard onto the factory fitted Dummy PC board with double sided tape and a little soldering to the Bachmann tabs. It turned out to be a very easy installation and, as you say, the loco is very impressive with sound.
