anyone know if anyone stocks the delrin gear for the connie axel drive in the uk,,,,

Contact Bachmann diresct for spares, they haven't let me down yet though I had to wait a while for the parts to come from the US when they didn't have any in stock. They may ask you to send the broken gear to make sure they get the right one so they can keep the others back as spares for others as they tend to get spares by stripping a loco.

As Paul said (and as I suggested in your previous thread re this), Bachmann's very much your best bet. It's very unlikely anyone would stock spares like these.

In the past I've had some success sourcing replacement gears for large scale locos by trawling ebay and specialist online shops for radio-control car spares and even amateur robotics! I've contacted specialist gear firms in the past, they're rather expensive!

I think the last set of gears I used (for an LGB Toytrain Porter) came from http://www.motionco.co.uk/ < Link To http://www.motionco.co.uk. They weren't an exact match (1 more tooth I think and I glued 2 together to make the required width) but they were relatively cheap and replacing the gears on both axles worked fine (and cheaper than LGB spare parts of course!)

Obviously you've got to know exactly what you're looking for; external diameter, number of teeth (or the MOD or DP value which is calculated from tooth count and diameter), central shaft diameter, overall width, spur (parallel teeth) or worm wheel (slanted teeth) and so on. I always reckon that manufacturers like Bachmann are likely to use standard sizes of gears so they're probably out there somewhere. The double gear in the connie might be harder to find.

I've never had my connie gearbox apart so I've never seen the actual gears for this loco.

yes ,, im just after the axel gear made of delrin which is a replacement for the one made of cheese that botchman fit,,,,

i will probably just order it direct from the states,,,, i know NWSL sell them for $ 13,00
and its part no 2226-6
they also do new gearboxes so might just buy a new gearbox as i need another gear too

i just wondered if anyone over here stocked them,,,,,,,,

ah yes, that one. 25 teeth, 15.8mm diameter, .25" shaft - that's an awkward mix of measurements! Pretty close to 0.6Mod though. There are a few 25T 0.6M gears around for R/C cars by the look of it, in various materials. Daveyb, if you've got an R/C car model shop nearby might be worth wandering in with your problem gear and see if they've got something to match?
