Bachmann C19 - photos

£782? Lovely but staying on the shop shelf at that price I'm afraid.

800 is not a disaster , just a sign of the times,,,,,,,,,, if it runs ok with no bachmann vices then its an ok price compared to lgb plastic locos,,
maby they will come down to 600 ish in a year or two,,,,
i actually thaught they would cost more,,,,

i would like a couple but not at the moment,,,,,

hope they sell loads of em!!

Looks very nice. I shall wait a while and keep an eye on prices offered by certain US based Ebay dealers. Possibly a drop to around the £450 marker, landed and tax paid, based on previous experiences. Unless Bachmann have changed their pricing policy.
Max.

Yeah I agree Max but it is interesting that the new Forney has dropped like a stone in price over the pond but the Climax is still subbornly high. This is due to it being very very popular where as the Forney has not been (or the 2-6-6-2) so Bachmann have not had to 'thin' its inventory.
I fear that the C19 is going to be very very popular and might take the same time as the K27 (and the Climax) to drop in price.
I really want one to go with the Accucraft C16 to enable a half decent little train to grumble up my inclines but it looks like a longish wait......the Hattons pictures do look very good though............dilemma dilemma 8|8|

Anybody know how the C-19 compares sizewize with the K-27 or the 2-8-0 Consolidation? Have not got a K-27 as think it's a bit too big for the EG&SNNR.........whereas the 2-8-0 Consolidation has no problems.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have an Accucraft C-19 and it is not that big, from memory about the same length as the Bachmann consolidation but a little less wide. It is quite an early loco so has a smaller loading gauge than later Rio Grande locos. Accucraft normally have dimensions on their website and the Bachmann Version should be the same size if to scale.

The Accucraft C-19 is 31" long, 4.5" wide and 7.8" tall overall.

There can be variations on that due to the tenders and the length of the front pilot (or cowcatcher) - they were delivered with long pilots and later had shorter versions instead.

The Bachmann versions have shorter tenders than the 'as delivered' versions (first set - the second set moved the connecting rod to the third axle), and short pilots , and long (spark arresting smokeboxes.

Yep the C19 is going to be just right for layouts where the K27 is a little 'girthy'. It was a neat little engine in real life, and not much bigger, if at all, than the C16.
I think that a quick 'holiday' to the States to acquire a couple would easily be paid for by amount splashed out for the postage and import VAT if it was posted!

But make sure you tell the nice customs man you took them out to run at a garden railway meeting or they will charge you import at the airport if you tell them the cost!

Oh yes Paul....they are always 'used' or have been 'repaired'. ;) ;) a nod is as good as a wink to a blind...............

They are are a little bigger in overall dimensions but quite a bit more beefy.

Thanks guys for the details.......seems like one of these running on the EG&SNNR is a possibility......another raid on the pension fund is possible in due course:nail::thumbup:

Hattons have dropped their price to £626! £670 for the older D&RGW liveried example

Must.........re..........sist..........!

Mind you, over in the USofA Mr Kramer has them for £448 (+ 20% UK vat = £90) Price without shipping and Parcelfarce's handling fee £538. Now how much to ship USPS ? Might be the beter option price-wise right now. I'm still going to wait and see.

Max.

Well Max....the total would be about £584 including shipping ... but if anything goes wrong, USA is a long haul to return to. If you have saved £150 or more that is fine and problems are the risk you take for the saving but only £40 saving makes the distance seem a little far away. Not that I have had any problem at all with the items from ebay seller ana.kramer in 5 years of dealing with him...but you never know.

Anyway £626 is not too bad for the loco in question.....................mmmmmmmmmmm a C19 would just be lovely...would look good with my very old Accucraft C16....oh dear

A Bachmann C19 would look huge alongside an Aristo/Delton C16, Should you be tempted I suggest you take your C16 along to the shop to see them side by side.

No spectacles this evening Neil?? If you look closely you will see I said ACCUCRAFT (same 1:20.3 scale as the Bachmann loco) 8|
I have two Aristo C16 as well so I think I probably do know the difference

Well the sale of a few bits and pieces made it hard for me to resist the temptation.......
I gave in and bought a C19 'Flying Grande 345' from eHattons at a good price and it arrived today.

I have had a very good look over her and she is a very fine put together model. It is beautifully finished and is very highly detailed even down to the connecting air hoses between loco and tender (extra flexible tubing is supplied to make a semi permanent connection of required).
I have looked at many actual photos of the particular loco that this model is based on and all the correct details are present.

It has comprehensive and easy connection options for the addition of sound, DCC or RC, whether plug and play or direct connections etc.
A speaker is already in the tender and extra height spacers are provided to site the connection board above if a larger speaker is to be fitted.
I will post some piccies tomorrow and will test her out when the weather dries up and post my findings on drawbar power, tolerance of uneven track, If it can navigate R3 curves (it might do it but it will look awful!) etc etc.
