Bachmann 'Emily'

Sterling Single?
The question is, how will they power it, the loco itself or stick a motor block in the tender...

Garrett,
if it ever happens then it will follow the 'OO' gauge model. The single driving axle plus the single trailing wheelset will be powered.

Hmm, I bet that proves to be interesting for gearing.

My point in asking this as the single drive axle would make for some operational problems (lack of adhesion) I feel unless the entire model were sprung/equalized.

Speaking with Graham Hubbard from Bachmann UK a couple of months ago he seemed to think that Toby the Tram engine would be next (with Henrietta coach). He wasn't 100% definite but it was what he was expecting to see.

Gawd that's going to annoy the missus, guess what her name is? ;)
She was similarly amused by the RhB Ge4/4 in Ems livery :rolf:

Paul, she may also like to know that one of the Paignton & Dartmouth Steam Railway passenger cars also carries the name Emily. Actually all the cars (around twenty five I believe) have female names.

A G scale Toby would be fantastic so long as it wasn't too much like the Hornby OO version with the dodgy blanked out windows.
Along with Henrietta this would see the start of many a Wisbech & Upwell tramway inspired layout in G or G3.

In spite of writing about Toby above, I see that they are taking reservations for Emily on the Back2Bay6 website ' No delivery date or price yet, but reservations being taken for this new addition to the Thomas range.'

Nothing new is expected in the Large Scale line up from Bachmann before March 2012.

I expect to see plenty of damaged ones on ebay before too long. The big single driver will mean that it will take off like a scalded greyhound ! Or just stand there spinning.

I have a suspicion that it might be well into 2012, if not later, that this track appears this side of the Atlantic (if in fact it ever does).
I am surprised by this move into track by Bachmann, given the fragile trading conditions prevalent in our hobby right now and the fact that they have made unsuitable track, for outdoors, on which to run their, mainly for outdoors, large scale rolling stock. Besides there seem to be enough manufacturers of brass track already fighting for a share of a small and expensive market. But and only time will tell, a current manufacturer of track may have made a deal with them over track manufacture or supply. ;)

Emily still expected to hit the UK in March 2012, I made no mention of track in my last post as its not related to this thread.

I asked the Bmann rep at this years SWGRS and he feigned any knowledge of it but then they are more secretive than the East German Secret Police.
