Good evening,
Does anyone have or know anyone with a Bachmann davenport.I'm buying one and would like to know a bit about them, build quality, plastic or metal gears metal or plastic body etc.If anyone can help I'd be greatfull....Thankyou.

J2J has a couple i had one its now with Mel:bigsmile::wave:

James Hilton has one as well.
I believe they were well received - not enough wheels for my taste :laugh:

Ps , from what i can remember very well built ,a great little loco:thumbup:

Ta Steve.

There's been a couple of similar threads on GSC asking the same question, so worth having a trawl through.

I have one. Great little locos. Plenty of weight, smooth running and good hauling capability. Small wheels so keep 'em clean.

Probably my young lad's favourite loco of the fleet. This bunch of Aristocraft container wagons is free running but quite heavy, the little loco shifted it with no problem at all (who needs a class 66!)

George Shreyer has a tips page about them, where he found that the pickup rollers benefitted from a little shim to move them outboard a fraction to ensure they contact the wheels at extremes of sideplay. I noticed this problem and carried out the same mod.

If you do, I've got a good use for the roller pickups if you end up removing them (Mel has already kindly donated the ones from his!)
