Battery Diesel Kit

Hi.

Im looking at buying a little battery operated diesel for my line.
I want a kit and to keep the price down, however it must have room for a speed controller and RC (from an old RC car).

Any advice?

The IP ones look good.

Cheers

I think Kent Garden Rail are still selling Danny.

Not sure what Brandbright are currently offering.

Essel engineering?

Andel Models?

These are places to look; you might well come back to IP. Their new gearbox is a distinct improvement on the earlier version

If you are going to get a plain chassis and scratch-build a body (which isn't as hard as it sounds!) then I'd reccomend Essel Engineering, they are miles better than the plastic I.P ones, full metal, ready to run and they are only about £20 more, which is worth it I.M.O!

The GRS kits have always tempted me , but I haven't built or owned one

An Alternative view,

A few years ago Playmol did a fabulous RC version of their classic 4050 track powered diesel. The catalogue number was 4085 and it was sold in Mainland Europe only. It even had a working headlight. Loads of potential and good speed control. Take a look on e-bay, whre they turn up. Make the search as (available to UK), as few made it to the UK.

They are doing a more modern and longer wheelbase model in Germany now, which is on sale here next year. Catalogue Number 5258. It has g/whizz lighting a horrid sound module and a reasonable horn. These can be bought and shipped to the UK for around £100.

It lacks the character of the older model and seems to go a little too fast (and not slow enough) for some tastes, but both are excellent value and good runners.
