Battery electric mining loco

Ooh, that's nice! I've seen plenty of 12"/ft examples rusting behind engine sheds, so it's good to see one running. When I built my 7/8th BEV Polar Bear (https://www.gscalecentral.net/threads/groudle-glen-battery-electric.306578/), someone on here coined the term 'live battery' (as opposed to live steam), which I rather like. So it's good to have another addition to the live battery loco roster!

I remember that thread! That's an awesome build, of an interesting and quite unique prototype.

A similar thought crossed my mind when building this, it's fun to make something that works basically the same way as its prototype. The rest of the fleet is mostly overhead powered electric trams and railcars too, so technically it is 'live electric'. Only the radio signal replaces your hand on the controller.

There are many examples of 'radio control' of 12" to the foot loco's..
Steelworks, shunting coaching stock, etc. ..

Does that mean we have 'live radio control' as well?;):giggle::giggle:

I think most broadcasters consider live radio a bit risky :mask::mask::mask:

Probably due to its lack of control :devil:

The little four wheeled battery electric loco is an unglamorous but useful part of the museum tramway fleet, seen here being operated by two voulenteers heading home from some trackwork. Scratchbuild from brass and other scrap metal. 8NiMH cells, RC. 1:24 scale.
Super little beast love the Waterfall making the Track a little damp as well. This little beast is very inspirational oh no I see another want comming! But as the Harz near Nordhausen has a small mining museum with such little beasts running on it why not?

The waterfall stops the ferns drying out at this time of year!

To be honest it doesn't really fit my theme either (only so far as an opportunistic museum might grab any old equipment they can get their hands on) but it was a fun little side project and quite quick to build because it's so small. There's not many 45mm gauge locos you can put in your pocket!

This was before painting, showing the scrap metal construction:

It isn't based on any particular prototype. This would be a rather large one, being 3'6" in 1:24 scale.
