Bertie Gas Valve. Help Please

Loverly day here up north, sunshine and warm.

Had Millie running, 40 minutes of bliss then tried to fire up Bertie but cannot get gas into tank.

Liquid gas everywhere. Vents gas from valve as soon as I try to fill tank, minimum amount of gas enters tank.

Is this likely to be a faulty valve?

Could it be another problem if not valve?

Got to go now, taking son's mother in law out to lunch. Happy days!

Could it actually be full of gas already ? Done that one a few time, especially if it has been a while since I last "ran" the loco. I assume the filler worked ok with the other loco. Could be sticking, try depressing a few time manually. Replacement valves fairly easy to get hold of - contact Roundhouse. Max.

Thanks Max. Tank was empty and filler worked fine on Millie. Tried pressing it manually a few times and it seems ok but immediately vents gas as soon as I depress the filler.

I will give Roundhouse a call tommorow.

Have you inspected the top of the filler for damage? Have you tried a different gas bottle connector? Is it the same one you're using with the other loco?

Sorry, don't know where you are so can't help by checking with you. I had a problem with my R/house L&M until I discovered that the connector wasn't sitting square to the valve.

Ahh! Just spotted you are in York. Perhaps there's another member over that way that can help, though you aren't desperately far from R/house works.

Another option might be to swap the filler valves to see if the problem follows the valve.

Thanks. Everything seems fine and square between valve and connector. As you say, I am not far from Roundhouse (about 35 mins if traffic is kind) and will contact them tommorow. My Millie has a full cab so a little more difficult for me to get at the valve to swap it over with the one in the Bertie. The one in the Bertie is easy to access with the cab roof off. Apart from that everything seems to point to the valve.
