BIG RED AND BOLD arrives at Cogges

The CEO of Cogges Railway was surfing the internet after a couple of medicinal Cogges Ales and saw a very nearly new big red beastie for sale. A contract was swiftly aggreed and the delivery made only for the engineering department to be bemused by four missing wheels. A quick check of the specification documents veryified the CEO has no idea what he was doing and that the loco only ever had eight as advertised. At the ensuing emergency board meeting the CEO stated he was well aware of the advantages of this model and that the purchase was entirely intentional. The overall profile is lower, the under carriage blacker, the paint redder, and the bill smaller - and the co co probably is mincing about with an extra pair of non powered wheels, giving it a fat waist, and that's not how we do things here anyway. Reassured, the engineering department arranged for the loco to be dragged out of the Cogges depot for the waiting enthusiasts. Everyone agreed that as a circular railway with no industry a 5th heavy and powerful engine was just what was needed.

The The 6th Earl of Gooey Order of the Pink Garter and Admiral of his Britanic Majesty's Fleet of Dirty Wagons had agreed to add a layer of grime on the new loco soon, but the enthusiasts were split as to whether a clean red and brash loco is actually better off dirty....
Note to self don't post on forums after two large merlots on an empty stomach... I'm in love with this loco it's crisp, and detailed and big. Testing will happen when I next clean the track.... which could be a while.

Nice loco, but I reckon it could do with a light weathering though....

Very nice indeed. I was tempted with that loco but swmbo said no :@

I didn't ask as I would have got the same answer....
If I had of done that I'd be talking with a very high pitched voice now.

Haven't heard Ian talk for a while, have you?

I think BIG red needs the Mel-tastic (tm) heavy weathering treatment. That black underframe appeals to me more than the light grey version.

How about a re-paint?

One of these in N gauge used to be a regular favourite on my layout, to the point I forgot it didn't actually belong to me and I was sad to give it back!

Looks good - needs something to pull

Freight is great................................ :bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:

WOW thats a bright red  Nice looking loco Ian

I love that loco and having seen the real thing I have a secret (well it was secret) desire to own one despite it being so huge.

I think light weathering of the bogies & other below the waist parts (fnarr fnarr) will bring out the details of the same much better enhancing your model.

Yikes !! That red is certainly RED. Like it was dragged right out of the paint shop. Good luck with it.

as we yanks say, (including alas Mr Dimond in the barclays cock up)

bigger is always better!

it is rather striking-like the contrast with the Kof too
