Doing some upgrades to my Blue Mallet to fit a pulsed smoke unit and automatic uncoupler. To make sufficient room for the smoke unit I will be removing the existing XL/LGB main board combo and the factory fitted sound board, and replacing with a Massoth XLS.
Whilst most of the innards are familiar, the loco has a couple of connections to the sound board that I'd appreciate some advice on.
Firstly, the loco has a 3-wire cable attached to a socket on the sound board marked "Reed" for the factory-fitted reed switch in the rear motor block. Cables are Red, White & Black - can anyone confirm what each wire is for?
Secondly, I have a further 3-wire cable attached to a socket on the sound board marked "Geber". All wires are black and appear to run into the innards of the rear motor block. I haven't come across such a connection before so would be grateful for advice on its function.
The attached pictures show the cables in question (photo 1, cables to the right) and the sockets on the sound board (photo 2, socket on the right feeds the firebox LEDs, socket in middle is for the reed switch, socket on the left is the "Geber" socket)
Thanks in advance for any info
Phil
