Bridge Replacment on the Nutbrook

Over the past year or so the big bridge on my line has fallen into a bit of disrepair. The span nearest to the camera is about 8 years old and the wood is now rotting through quite badly. The track was doubled about 4 years ago and a second arch was built. This is still ok, but the decision has been to replace the lot with a more moderner design.

Now on my last visit to see Fred I [strike]scrounged [/strike]was given this rather nice bridge as he was lifting all his track and retiring from running trains. Its quite well made using some plastic piping and wooden doweling and all mounted on decking. At 8 feet long it only just went in me car, but I got it home.........

First job was to widen the bridge to take two tracks.

Low sides were also fitted, this will stop the ballest from falling off the edges of the bridge. Railing are planned to be fitted into these low sides.

He will be telling you next that I demanded he take it. Then he had the cheek to scrounge a tin of matching paint off me. Nice to see it going to a good home.

Looks brilliant Steve , good to see you relieving Fred of this burden in hi hour of need:thumbup:

I do feel he should receive the praise he deserves. ( Sir Steven of Nutbrook perhaps.)
