Burner question

Hi all

Further to my burner issues I've found a modified burner in a spare accucraft boiler I'm using in a future project.

However I have a question. On the accucraft burner the slots point down (I.e are at the bottom of the burner the top is blank) but on the modified one ( as I think on my roundhouse locos) the holes point upwards. Which is correct or does it make no difference?

??? :thinking:Think all mine are at the top (Accu)?

Quite possibly.

Hi Si
All my UK Accucraft locos (and all I have seen) have the slots facing down and I understand that is is to make them more efficient as the water level falls. I am not convinced it makes a huge difference, but have never done comparative tests.

Oh yes - the biggest improvement I made to a burner was to change the jet and holder to one from Chuffer2Bits and add an air control ring. Half the noise and 50% longer run time (30 mins+)
Cheers
