Cairo tram and trailer

Dear all

Here is the construction process of a Cairo tram (First, Second and Harem class) and its second class trailer

Cairo tram

Two Bachmann bodies heavily modified,
Roof and platforms extended, various laser cut sheet to simulate various wood panels.
Stainless steel trucks, Swiss Maxon motor, brass gears, brass axle bearings, etc.
Water decals for correct destination boards, numbers, etc
Display with appropriate masts with overhead wiring and typical Cairo businesses in the background.

The set was displayed at an exhibition organised by the Royal Museum of Mariemont (Belgium - winter 2020)

Wow what a superb job.

Very nice, thank you for sharing the build photo sequence.

The figures are a nice touch and a good reminder of different cultures and dress codes in other countries.

The trolley doesn't look like the Bachman one, is yours scratch made?

Where did you source the buffer?

Could you please share a photo of the dash board lamp from inside the cab area, where did you source that rather nice dash board lamp?

I need to finish what's already on my workbench, but that tram is a definite possibility in the future, very nice indeed.

Dear all,

Here are some answer to questions made Two years ago:
- trolley: I have 3D designed my own trolley and have the file sent to a casting company.
10 sets made of four pieces: base, pivot, fork for the trolley pole, support for the trolley wheel.
Trolley wheel bought (from boat models)
- buffer: 3D design, file sent to a casting company
- dashboard: plate made of brass. Lamp: original Bachmann lamp from the plastic dashaord
