Castle Caereinion Signal Box

Nibbs

45mm Gauge, 16mm scale narrow gauge garden railway

I used the Jackson's Miniature kit as a base for my Castle Caereinion signal box.
The basic structure is covered with embossed brick and timber cladding sheet and for the interior I used the parts supplied by Back Bay 6.

The only thing I haven't done yet is to put in a window for the equipment room. Also the signalman need an armchair in which to sit by his stove and keep warm waiting for the next train. Afterall there were only three trains each way per day so it couldn't have been a very busy box! Am looking out for a shabby dolls house
chair that might fit the bill. In the meantime the poor chap will have to lean on his levels.

You may be interested to know that the stove is actully made from a empty party popper painted black!!

I am going to have a go at posting a few pictures but as this is my first time on GSC I'm not sure it will work.

Cheers!

Keith N.
Hi John,

No I'm afraid I bring most of my buildings indoors when I have finished playing.

Cheers!

Keith N (Nibbs)

Great enhancement of a simple kit and I love the stove idea:applause: :applause: - that will be stored away

Nice job

I love modelling signal boxes. Here's an old O one with a few external details, logs under stairs, brackets , signalman with a watch. Puddy tat, stand pipe, rodding and fire buckets. Hip irons and finials on da roof.

That is a great looking box! the party popper stove in very effective and shows what can be done if you keep your eyes open, one thing though as a one time floor layer when you do the floor avoid a symetrical pattern to the joint's or they stick out like the proverbial sore thumb of which I suffered plenty!!

Thanks for the tip about floor boards Miniman. I will make them more random next time. Also perhaps a bit darker. They look too new as they are.

As it's been dry today I have been out there with the camera. Here is the Castle Caereinion box it it's proper place.

Next job is to build the Llanfair water tower. Ideas and suggestions would be gratefully received.

Cheers!

Keith N.
