Picture shows my friend Neil 'putting the smoke' back into my Challenger.
Problem when you have no smoke out of the stacks, and you have tried the blow down treatment to no avail, is to have to take the boiler off and have a look!
It is always a wrestling match with these large engines as the boiler casing is in two main sections.
Unfortunately to get at the smoke unit both sections have to be removed. There is a gasket between the fan chamber and the smoke generation/outletchamber. This had moved during a period of time and created a covering blockage.
Trimmed it down and re-positioned it and re-assembled.
If you check the video, you will see the result. The whole process took approx 3 hours so I reckon we saved a bit of money by not sending it back to a dealer?
