Charnwood Forest Garden Railway - Easter Steam up

A few times a year the CFR team makes a special effort to put on a 'mini' steam gala. This includes visiting engines and more than we would run on a normal Live Steam Sunday. Though the weather didn't want us to play trains we still managed to put on one good show. We also were very fortunate that we could get the Pine Tree Junction Steam fleet to come and be our visiting engines - Visit their YouTube channel, it's very popular!

Back to the gala, the line up stood with....:-
Roundhouse
- Sandy River
- Leek and Manifold
- Fowler
- Jack
- Katie
- Silver Lady X2
- Pooter
- Billy
Regner
- Willi X2
- Chaloner

We didn't have our whole fleet of Roundhouse engine there this year nor any Accucraft. Here's some photos from Saturday.

If anyone is interested in visiting us with a Live Steam engine durring one of our Steam events OR just a normal Steam Sunday please contact me. We are located at Rothley station on the Great Central Railway, Leicestershire.
A Photo Video of the day....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GBhixi56Ju4&feature=g-all-u&context=G22930feFAAAAAAAAQAA

I saw this line when I visited the Great Central Railway on the sunday after the Peterborough show. Was only there twenty minutes or so, but was very impressed with the professional presentation provided for the public by two teenagers who were running their Roundhouse locomotives at scale speed on this line. I very much enjoyed my day on the Great Central and the Charnwood Forest is a worthy shop window for our hobby.

Visited the guys at the CFR last year and had a most enjoyable visit!

Especially as I left with a Wizzy Cranks Bo-Bo!

If you are ever in the Leicester area, then go and visit! You'll me made most welcome....

Ah, those two teenagers would be Ollie and I! Ollie was driving his Katie at the time of your visit I believe and my Russell and Silver Lady were on shed. I'm glad you were impressed as we always aim to please...

Next time you visit you'll have to bring an engine....!!:rolf:

We like to make everyone feel welcome....especially if they are buying something!:rolf:

Hope the loco's still running like a dream...!

I was just thinking that it must have been you that Tag saw Scott!

I shall have to make the treck up there again someday... Good opportunity to give one's engines a leg stretch.

Cracking line up of locomotives

When are these steam up Sundays? Would like to give my ragleth a run.

They're pretty much every Sunday! We tend to run track power on Saturday and Live Steam on Sunday. You?re more than welcome to visit with your Ragleth, we've never had that variation of the Accucraft 0-4-0 on the CFR and would love to see one running on it! Just drop us an email when you are thinking of coming so we can expect you...All the contact information is on our website as well as some other useful information; link in signature!

Certainly is Scott!

Now fitted with a XL decoder and numbered 9 in the LG&B loco fleet....

Well, Easter is almost on us again. We will be having another big steam up on Easter Sunday and Monday, all will be welcome.

I will make a visit one day.
I might be able to make Sunday if the Missus let's me.
Can I let you know on the day or more warning needed?
I have a new whistle on my ragleth if that helps. ;)

No advance warning necessary. Just turn up and introduce yourself. We will be running from 10am to 4pm.
