Cheap Girder Bridge No2 The Arch (no not larch)

Woderwick

Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club
Same techniques as the box, but with a bit of facia as the deck. An arched lift out this time, a tad over 5ft long.

Now thats one nice bridge, very neat, Telford would be proud of that one.

Not to shabby at all Wod

Looks a little like the Severn Valley. Nice job.

Brilliant work Wod - looked at the construction details too - nice page also!
Can you explain (to an ignoramus) what CA glue is please?

Super glue - full name Cyano-acrylates.

Very tidy - just need to excavate the path and build the Niagara Falls whirlpool to complete the picture:thumbup:

Good Job!

If you look very closely at the last picture you can just make out the bottom is a bit of 25mm angle trimmed to about 12 by 12. The verticle part of the angle was cut at right angle so as to make it bendable. The uprights were glued over this nick to maintain the strength after the desired curve was formed. I'll add some more pics to the site if it ever stops raining.

Thanks Alan. I didn't think it would glue plastic all that well.

It does n't on most, but on this PVC facia, it welds it. Here is an extract from the web piece about the first bridge.

"There was at the time I made this bridge in Oct 2008 a great deal of skepticism about CA standing up long term outside. I believe their still is. I have to tell you when I tried to separate two pieces of the angle I glued in error it broke the angle and the joint held. The bridge is a good as the day it was built, despite some extreme (from a UK perspective) weather conditions over 2009-10."

Ironically I think the next lot I am going to make will be in Aluminium.
