Does anyone own a Cheddar Philadelphia and have manual/set of operating instructions. I would like to arrange getting a copy. I have acquired a loco with no information.

Aaaww, and there was I just considering cheese and crackers :D

I'm not sure just what info you hope to find in any instruction sheet. Most steamies are pretty straightforward and simple to sort out, with a little mechanical nowse, and a few questions answered on here. Give us a try, photos will help no end.

There are also some experts in your area if it gets beyond us.

Hi, I have a Cheddar Samson, I think all the Cheddar's have ceramic burners and a drip feed steam lubricator mounted on the front? (but I'll stand corrected). In all other respects they are just like all other live steamers. I'm not sure that any user manuals exist. If you can post pictures / questions they're many of this forum that can help you to have a successful first run!

Contact Jason at The Train Department. I know he has one as I have repeatedly asked him to sell it to me. thetraindepartment@gmail.com.
Thankyou for that suggestion. I will contact him. I am not clear how many were ever made. I have worked out how everything works and have to guess that the maximum working pressure is as set (40). The bypass lubricator ( on the port side in front of the cab) is new to me. Getting the right amount of steam oil into the system is a bit hit and miss at the moment.

NO need to worry too much about steam oil as long as you use the right grade (superheated or not). With all my steamies I usually only fill the displacement lubricator every second or third run. They tend to deliver far too much in general, and the whole train can be splattered. It is possible to cut them back a bit by making and fitting small wire restrictor for the lubricator outlet pipe.

40 p.s.i. is quite usual. Some are a bit higher.

Cheese and crackers. You've made me hungry.....
