It was not until I started taking quite a few photos on my line that I realised how many garden chairs I have. They are always getting in the background of otherwise good pictures.
Look beyond the train when framing a photo.

I could'nt agree more, the amount of photo's I've took that I think will look great, only to spot something in the background that spoils it.

To be fair though I have to share the garden with the rest of the family, as two of them are girls under 7, our garden is littered with two slides, a pink trampoline, a wendy house and assorted other toys, add to that the constantly full washing line that SWMBO insists on putting out when I'm running trains, the garden chairs and the wheelie bins its a wonder with my limited photo skills that I manage to get any decent pics.

P.S. my 6 year old takes better pics than me. although I don't admit it to her

Thats where the photo shop clone tool comes into its own. Just clone the greenery in the background over the offending chair, washing line, bucket, wife or whatever.

"" One could imagine that a clever "manipulator" could put his model in a real scene to claim it as a pic. of his railway, or some other such misrepresentation. Be interested in others thoughts, and apologies for the thread drift Stockers,
Cheers Grant.

I always think that if you are trying to get the best of a photo for a small audience then it is fine to add a little photoshop, most people will just glance at the pic enjoy it for a few seconds and move on...no harm done. I guess it is different if you are trying to deceive someone on purpose. Ever seen pics in a holiday brochure that missed out the sewerage works next to the hotel!!
