Coal bins

Just finished off the coal bins at Beeston Market station






As you can see from the last photo, still need to complete the coal yard, and the station approach in the background.

Quick question (famous last words?). When I woz but a lad, I`m sure these were referred to by 00 modellers as `coal staithes`, and yet I have a feeling a staithe is really where coal is loaded into ships ........ Any views on this?

Yes Rik, they were called staithes. To confuse matters even further we have a staithe at Martham (about 3 miles from where I live) and they've even named the lane that leads to it as Staithe Road. It's never had coal near it, so explain that one.
