CONFIRMED SOLD! LGB HEIDI (DCC/Sound) plus two historic coaches....

Sold for 700.00 GBP
(inc. 0 GBP donated to website)
NOW SOLD.

For Sale: my unique, slightly-modified LGB Heidi, plus her rake of two historic coaches; would prefer to sell as a set (and have priced them accordingly), but would consider sensible offers for individual items.

I’m trying to thin my collection just a little to concentrate on a predominantly German theme, so reluctantly I think that Heidi and her coach rake (the only remaining Swiss items that I currently have) deserve a new home.
The loco is a 20271 factory-DCC model with a standard LGB onboard decoder, which came without sound - but I’ve added a Massoth S sound module with the correct files for the loco, and it sounds lovely. The loco is boxed, in excellent condition with all foam box inserts to hold it safely.

The loco has been subtly improved by a previous owner, by replacing all the horrible bendy plastic handrails with beautifully made and applied brass ones - the main rails around the tank tops, the cab handrails and the smokebox handrails have all been done, and they change the look of the loco enormously compared with the black plastic originals.

There are currently two LGB footplate crew in the cab, but I also have a Prehm metal-cast driver figure in proper RhB outfit (with red neckerchief, white shirt and black waistcoat) which would look excellent in place of the standard driver - I will include that figure FREE if I get an offer of the full asking price for the loco and coaches.

The two historic coaches - 30340 and 30343 (with different running numbers, C.2010 and C.2012) are both as standard, boxed and in excellent condition, one has several passengers in period costume fitted. One coach is double-hooked, the other has the second coupler hook in the box to fit if desired.

This afternoon I took Heidi and her coaches to a local GSS open day, to let her have a test run on an RhB-themed line - the photos were all taken during that testing session, during which everything ran and sounded fine. If anyone is interested and wants to see more pics, I can take some “on the bench” photos on request.

Asking price for LOCO AND TWO COACHES is £700 - given that the new version Heidi from LGB is listed at almost £1000 (more in some places), and the coaches tend to go for at least £150 each second-hand (new versions are £200+), I think that’s a reasonable price for the lot (plus the above-mentioned Prehm driver!).

Shipping to be agreed at cost if required, or can be collected from North Essex, or I can bring it along the the Llanfair show at the end of this month if anyone wants to pick it up from there.
I would prefer a UK buyer, but if anyone else really wants it and is prepared to pay for courier shipping with full insurance then I will happily discuss it.

Thanks for looking!

Jon.

I'm interested Jon but I would like to know how well it (and the carriages) run on R1 curves and points please.
I know like all LGB it will run but question is how well?
I had my fingers burned with the Rugen 0-8-0 in this respect.
Thanks, Dave

Hi Dave, thanks for the interest - the line I ran it on today didn't have any R1 on the main line, but I'm sure it won't have a problem - it's only a 2-6-0, so it should be much better than an 8-coupled chassis. The coaches are 4-wheelers with pretty good articulation of the axles, so I can't see you'd have any problems with them either, but if you're seriously interested then I can put a couple of R1 points back-to-back tomorrow and roll them through it to be certain?

Jon.

Couple more questions:
1- Does it have a smoke generator and does it work as far as you know?
2 - Is the sound synced to the wheels?
Thanks, Dave

1) Yes it has one, but I've not used it - however when putting it away today I did notice the chimney was warm, so the smoke unit is obviously heating up even though it was empty. I can test it during the week to be sure?
2) Not specifically, as the sound is via an S module which doesn't have a wheel sensor connection fitted - but it's never looked/sounded odd to me, I would say it's more than close enough unless you are VERY particular about it.... ;)
The "S" has the correct sound files for the loco, not just a generic set, so I would assume that Massoth have got the chuffs about right?

Jon.

Have replied to your PMs, Dave, but just as general info to anyone else reading this I've just tested the smoke unit and it all works fine, produces a nice plume even at low speed on analogue DC.

Jon.

OK, further to the questions posed above....

Smoke works just fine, a nice plume that shows up quite well here:

Then, the coaches going through a Radius 1 reverse "S" curve (two R1 points toe-to-toe) - the worst maneuver any G-scale rolling stock can be asked to perform! The coach pair rolled smoothly through the curves with no hint of coupler lock, it's not especially pretty but then a reverse R1 never is.... ;)

Then, last but not least - while I was testing the coaches through the curves, I noticed something that I had completely forgotten to mention in the original listing - ONE of the coach pair (C.2012, the one with the period-costume passengers on board) also has LIGHTS - two strips of yellow/amber LEDs to give a lovely old-timey lamp glow, run from a PP3 battery clipped inside the roof and switched on and off via a toggle switch that can be reached with a finger slipped in through the open window..... you can just about see the lights in this pic, though of course they look a whole lot better in the dark. From normal viewing angles when on the track, the battery and switch assemblies are completely out of sight, which is why I had forgotten about it when I was testing the set yesterday.

Last couple of pics... this is the Prehm metal-cast (zinc) RhB driver that I mentioned, who will come FREE with the loco and coaches set if it sells for the full asking price; a great little figure in a bright and cheerful outfit (even if it does seem a little daft to wear a white shirt when driving a steam loco...?), and a matching fireman is still available from Prehm if desired. :)
