The CFR now has three Regner De Winton type locomotives. They are excellent runners and haulers.

Well after a winters operation the "Willi" Regners have proved to be a problem. They are very difficult to light in cold weather, often taking over an hour to get lit and stay lit. Pressure gauge pipe on one "Willi" leaked. On replacement found that pressure gauge didn't work. Needs replacement. Water top up system on second "Willi" failed, had to be replaced. Hopefully warmer weather will bring about an improvement in running. "Chaloner" as been a dream.

Having read the problems with Wili's you will be pleased to know I have sprayed coffee over my laptop!!!! :rolf::rolf::rolf:Alyn

That should help it boot up in cold weather.

Casey - have you got an air control ring on your Willi? The one I borrowed to modify had a simple brass ring to reduce the air and lit perfectly. It covered about a third of the holes if I remember right. I did the same mod to a Lumberjack with lighting problems and it transformed it. A simple test is to just put your finger over one of the air holes and see if it makes a difference. Might be worth trying......
Cheers

Chris, Yes there is an air control ring on each "Willi". We have tried them in various positions to no avail. We sometimes get one to fire up straight away and run for about 30 minutes, then on regassing it will not fire up again. This occurs with either "Willi". I'm wondering if it is a problem with the butane/propane mix. I'm going to try just butane this weekend.
