(Yeuck!) Oh yes I know : doesn't run with the T.V.B.L. theme, BUT it has become obvious that something 'instant start and go' would be an advantage especially for the little ones to play with. So what I need is something that is as close to the theme as pos. It would need to be battery powered and R/C, but not necessarily as supplied, as I'm not quite 'hand-less' (yet).

So you G-men, what is there that looks reasonably like one of these, and could be fettled to fit my bill?

(Oh yes, and where from? )

Brandbright do the Baguley in various configurations Bob?

You just have to specify what you want and they will built one to order....

Hmm, so they do, without the rear entry cab. Not a cheap option (£870 all up) unfortunately; I could add a steamy to the stable for less than that. Could be got batt/manual, and R/Ced of course, that might save a bit.

Cheers Gizzy.

What about a Diema (W&L No 17)?

Can convert to rc quite easy as a DIY job. Accucraft is the closest your get. Essel engineering could be worth a look.

Wait for it, someone makes a Chattenden ??:thinking::thinking:

Is it Essel Engineering?

They do indeed, and it looks nice. I see they want £125 to fit sound, that seems a lot, what would be involved apart from a programmed card?

I've been comparing the two offerings and notice some subtle differences. Essel's is narrower, but longer (partly because of the rear entry steps, obviously). they are both the same height.

I know that Accu stuff is generally reliable, but has anyone experience of Essel stuff?
