Dismantle a KOF

Mrs Broom kindly paid for a brand new LGB 2490 old style KOF for Xmas. This has come in a box with a toy train logo which is why I assume it has no light bulbs. How easy is it to get the cab off? I've removed the two screws underneath but it seems reluctant to leave the chassis...

If I can get to the motor is it possible to run bulbs from it or am I better going down a battery and LED route?

Any advice appreciated.

Once you have removed the two screws from under the cab, it should come off by moving it back to the rear slightly. There is a ridge that runs along the back of the chassis. The cab has a continuous ridge that runs along the inside back wall at the bottom. This is what holds the cab in place along with the screws.

There is also a little pushbutton catch at the front under the radiator. Mine got a little close to the Island of Sodor.

Not sure but I recall you have to remove the bonnet, before you remove the cab, as this helps hold the cab in place....

Thanks guys - I'm in there. I didn't twig the radiator trick, mine has a couple of tiny screws. Hey Presto! I think I'll try LED's as there is plenty of room in the bonnet for a battery (and some weight).
Thanks for the thread that was a good read. I'll go off and look at the diagram now and see what else I can discover about my new baby.
