DIY lamp posts

Not wanting to hijack a similar thread, I thought I'd start this one separately, having found a version of this diagram in a sixty year old model magazine. Originally it was intended for O gauge, but the basic idea seems to be quite suitable for G as well.

The post is from wood, and I should think it would be possible to add a shade above the bulb from a tinplate disc with a hole drilled in the middle.

A magnifying light... the ones on an arm with a circular fluro or leds... an invaluable aid...

BTW Im happy to supply moulds etc for lamp bases where a length of 1/4" tube is used... I made my own simply because for the cost of one premade I can make 4.... and I use 12V warm white leds... Mine are easy to make if you have the moulds and as I say I'm happy to share.... Mine are more you're high or main st type old world gas lamps and do you all know gas lamps never ever flickered but they do hissssssssssssssssssssssssssssss... The height is variable depending on the length of tube you use....lens is clear resin and the other bits are cast in GP fibreglass resin

I like them, but just have no way of making the lenses. Think Im stuck with commercial ones, but looking into making some basic lamps. its the lamp shade Im unsure about how to make.

Never sure whether to start a thread or jump on the back of another. I'm economic with my money so enjoying the "on the cheap" messages. My lamp posts are simply plastruct tube, LED, with shade and post cap from those plastic/nylon pop over covers for screws. Drill out the base to 5mm to take the LED (push fit) and hey presto a lampost for less than 99p. Can't get the hand of attaching pictures - this may have worked???
