Hi,

Does anyone Mfg 30 Inch Gauge or 24 Inch Gauge Trains for S Gauge Track ?

Trying to find a Train size more suitable for my Apartment.

The 2 Foot Gauge Trains on O Gauge track might still be a Little too Large for my Apartment.

Smaller but not too Small. On30 is a little too small for my desires.

Sold off most of my G Gauge Trains after selling off my House & moving to an Apartment.

Thank you,

Norman

That is a very positive no. S is a very niche thing in UK, somewhat more common in the USA but I have not seen any products over many years of reading Model Railroader. You may find Gn15 meets your needs better. Many fine small modest layouts built to the scale with some kits available for stock in UK.

Jon dunnyrail dunnyrail echoed my thoughts exactly.

There is a forum member from down under who does Gn15 - is it GAP GAP ?

The advantage of Gn15 is the availability of track and loco mechanisms. It would involve some kit building of rolling stock but again, there are plenty of suitable wagon chassis.

Plus figures are ok and he has experience of the scale.

I wondered if I'd got it wrong - is it Gavin Sowry Gavin Sowry perhaps?

I find it hard to visualise my 1:20.3 shay running on HO size track.
Did the Lima company manufacture any to run on 18" gauge track? Probably not. They did make some 2ft gauge ones, but they would have been physically smaller I suspect.

I think the best modern examples of extreme size locos on small gauge track are the ex-South African Beyer-Garrets used on the WHR. That's an impressive overhang :giggle::giggle:

and this is what replaced them in SA

Gn15 is an entirely different beast, generally using modest sized layouts and 15inch trains with lots of detail. A believable line was built in around a foot square envalope.
Look at this one below from around 2.54

You might be betabed to learn that there is actually one of these locos here in UK, imported buy business person Madison Dolby of Yorkshire, England in 2022.

It is intended to run it on 2ft track. There are a couple of models of this Class 91 loco available here in UK, one in 16mm from Bowater - clue - it's HUGE - the other in something a lot smaller, possibly 009.

I still hanker after a 'submarine' (LYD2) to run on 32mm gauge track..
That will be quite big enough for me.

I've always had a hankering for an SA 91 - both offerings are actually 16mm as opposed to my 15mm:1ft

There's a Worseley Works etched kit, or Bowater Models laser cut wooden version. They'll run on my railroad OK, and get through the Warren girder truss bridge ...................... my problem is space in the shed :oops: oh, and the wallet :rofl::rofl::rofl:

I just remembered that I have an acquaintance in Nepean/Ottawa who models exclusively in S scale. I can arrange to put him in touch with you if you are interested in finding track although I bleeve he makes his own.

I don't know of anybody else in Canada, though.....................

Don't mind me pointing out that you've already had us leaping around trying to help you - remember last Saturday?
