Dumbfounded - LGB Stainz 2020D LED conversion

Hey friends,
I’m stumped. I purchased LED screw bulbs (12-14V) E5 E.5 to change out the incandescent bulbs in the headlight/reverse light. The headlight worked just fine. The reverse won’t. The incandescent bulb works, and the LED bulb works, but together they don’t. I don’t understand why the headlight was a simple swap whereas there’s an issue with the reverse light. Can anyone shed some light (no pun intended)? - Jay

Simple one this:
There are two versions of the screw-in LED bulbs.. Those with a bridge rectifier as well, and those without..

The ones with the rectifier, can be fed AC, or DC of either polarity, and will light..
The ones without, will only work 'one way round'. - They are polarity sensitive.

You had a 50/50 chance of them working, and came out even! :giggle:

The fix is to swap the two wires feeding the rear light:
You can do this by unsoldering/soldering the wires at the bulbholder. - Remove the LED first!
Swap the wires at the board/connector end. - This may be beyond your abilities?
Snip the wires part-way along, strip, twist, test CAREFULLY, then insulate if working. - Simplest, but a bit of a bodge. though solder and heatshrink would be good. :)

Phil, knew what the problem was straight away, but glad you explained it :)
