I've just noticed that on Friday ebay sneeked in a message in the notices section saying that from next month they would be raising the maximum final value fee from £40 to £75. This means that rather than not paying any fees on the amount over £400 you will have to pay it up to £750. If you are trying to sell an expensive loco or a collection this will mean it will cost you a lot more!

The mentioned annoucement (they don't seem to want to encourage private sellers then, see the last line):-
On Tuesday 10 July 2012, the maximum final value fee for private sellers will increase from £40 to £75. This new final value fee cap will only impact listings with a sale price above £400.
This change applies to private sellers and will only affect items which are listed from 10 July 2012 onwards.
Fees for business sellers are unchanged.
