EJ&KLR LGB Schoema detailing...

I have to say, given that I deal with the hamfisted adults, bendy black for handling reasons is probably good...
Otherwise, super job....

There is another mod you could do which Dad has done on his. Paint the screws at each end dark red to represent switched off tail lights.

Yes Vanessa, I was thinking that but thought Orange would be better for now - and glue 'jewel' lenses over them when I find some.

In brief...
I couldn't wait any longer, and with a little bit of a wait for the custom works plates I decided to crack out the satin black...

I'm leaving the handrails on the bonnets in orange :)
Thanks for all the advice and opinion - it helped me formulate my ideas!

Me too! I've got that blue MOB Swiss box car to repaint into silver, and one of the OBB bogie coaches to repaint as well - they'll form the modern rake of stock along with the roll-wagen until I finish the steel bodied brake van - the next scratchbuild project.

I hope to start on them all after easter :)

James - imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Whatever, thanks for the "how to undress a Schoema" guide. I've got there in the end she maybe an oldy but at £35 she was cheap yet still runs smooth. There is something about these locos I like.

Derek - no problem, glad to have inspired, you could touch in the screw heads with orange paint to disguise them a touch and the LGB plastic handrails can be straightened quite easily too :) Are you going to add a number or insignia on the side?

I know these photos are on the EJ&KLR thread, but for completeness, the Schoema has seen action on the outdoor line...

The finishing touch will be the etched nickel silver works plates that are on order from Narrow Planet :)

Very smart. The mouldings for this engine must be quite old and with your efforts it is right up there with the Currrent offerings, first class job!

Have to agree with you James that it needs something on the sides. I tried dry-brushing the moulded schoema plates but it was nothing a respray couldn't put right:(
The screws do need a paint or something but I was too eager to rebuild!

Very nice work on both locos.
A quick dip in boiling water will straighten out LGB plastic handrails. They virtually 'pop' back into shape.

James fine paint work and decals do for the loco compared to factory -the color is simply not as true and opaque-nor the decals as nice-really like Jame's stripes showing the body grey

The custom etched Nickel Silver works plates have arrived from Steve at Narrow Planet (www.narrowplanet.co.uk) and they're spot on - perfect.

These photos show the plates fitted to the model - and close this thread :)
