EX GWR AUTOCOACH IN BR MAROON LIVERY

Hi chaps.....
Can anyone tell me what colour the seats were in GWR Autocoaches in BR days, particularly in the early sixties ?
I thought the seats were red, although my memory may be failing, but I notice that some restored Autocoaches have a brown or blue/grey moquette, but these may be how they were in GWR days.

Hi Tony if it is any help it looks like the auto coaches finished in 1965 I googled the site GWR auto coaches images photos inside show red , or brown even green so I think you are fairly safe with any of these all my info is in black and white , nothing written, that I can find regarding inside colour hope that helps regards Dave

Just seen this - there are two colours of upholstery - smoking was one colour and non-smoking another.

I have photos of the one at Bodmin - can post them ternight.

Doh :banghead::banghead:

The only photos that I have of the interior are looking out of the windows and don't show the upholstery.

So, from memory...............

The two upholstery colours for each coach were red (ish) and black. Black was for the smoking compartments.

On my return from Cornwall, I bought an n gauge model of the autocoach and painted the interior correctly (I think). I'll visit da shed tomorrow.

Right, I have taken the roof of the n gauge autocoach.

I painted the interior of this directly after my visit to the Bodmin and Wenford railway, when they were running special trips in the autocoach as they had just finished its refurbishment.

The upholstery in general is black (with a small white spot pattern - may be a logo or fleur-de-lys, but can't remember). The non-smoking upholstery lounge is red with the same pattern, and that is smaller the seating area between the guard's / luggage doors and the middle doors that have the steps that lower down for ground level access.

Hope this helps

Edit: None of Nigel's Bluebell samples ring any bells

Thanks for your replies....I think I will go and lie down in a darkened room....on some moquette.....
